The Prince Villa Karuizawa
As a girl who grew up in big cities, I've spent my entire life living in apartments or flats. I've never lived in a house before, the closest thing I've ever got is probably my two level apartment in Melbourne. oh well, and maybe the sleepover parties in my friends' house from Australia, and that's about it.
Anyways, a few months ago, I got the chance to fulfil this little house dream of mine. It lasted about 3 nights only, but let me tell you, this place is going to stay on my little hotel list. Instead of huge fancy houses, I'm actually more into these cute little cottages. The Prince Villa Karuizawa in Japan, offers cute, warm, nicely decorated cottages, perfect for both friends or family trips. We stayed in the standard one level cottage house (meant for 2-4 people), they also have a couple of larger family sized ones that are actually a lot bigger (for 8 people). But I reckon the small one is already spacious enough.
To be honest, what attracts me the most is not the cottage itself, but the fact that our little cottage is located in the woods. I've always been a fan of oversized trees! They make everything seems so fresh. Nestled near the central of Karuizawa, this can sometimes gets too touristy and crowded (there is an outlet located in the area after all), but upon entering the villa, I felt like I was transported to another world, somewhere really relaxing.
We spent most of our time exploring the town by foot. And came across this lovely little cafe that serves one of the best chocolate cake I've ever had in my life.
Here's a little pros & cons review from myself--分享一下整體的優缺點：
The PROS// Its a really homey experience, you get to feel like you're living in a tiny village in the woods for a few days. The place is super clean, and the staffs are very considerate! They even have golf cars to drive you around the villa, they offer free transportation to the train station as well! I feel like the price is quite cheap, specially if you come here with a couple of friends, and you're all splitting the price for one cottage.
The CONS// There were no proper meal service in the villa, the only place you get to eat is the lobby lounge, but they only offer small bites like sandwiches or cakes throughout the day. We had to take a cab all the way to the outlet or another hotel from their branch for lunch & dinner, which I find kind of inconvenient. Also, if you're not in to scenery, trail walking or skiing, then you'll probably find the activities around here a bit dull.
