Amsterdam

amsterdam_photodiary Amsterdam has been on my bucket list since forever. I don't exactly know why, but there's just something about this city that seems so appealing. So, of course I have to make this beautiful dutch city as me first proper weekend trip outside UK. There's nothing more inspiring than travelling to an unknown city. And here I am today, sharing my shoots and thoughts during our stay. Hope you'll find it interesting.

Comparing to London, the buildings and houses are all so tiny and adorable. With the beautiful canals and trees along side each other, it is really hard to not fall in love with this place. But don't let the small houses fool you, they have quite a collection of stores. I specially love the house decor shops, how I wish I came here before I'm done decorating my flat.

Other than wondering around the central area, we spend an afternoon at the famous Zaanse Schan, which is also known as the 'Windmill Village'. It's about 20 minutes away from Central Amsterdam Station. I was pretty surprised by how the tourist planning is so detailed in this little area. Basically you follow sign and routes, you get to see not only the Windmills, but also a lot of other interesting stuffs from Dutch Culture. Such as the wooden clogs, cheese and waffle biscuits. It's pretty educational to be honest.

I actually didn't realise until yesterday that the hotel we choose to stay in was fairly new (just opened around August!). The hotel is probably one of the cutest, and the location is amazing as well, I'll be giving a more detailed post about it I promise! The area we stayed in wasn't in one of the central tourist parts of the city (at least I think it doesn't seem like one..ha!), so the mornings were really relaxing and quiet. I love the fact that we get to see locals riding back along the canal to start their day.

While I was editing my photos earlier this week, I realised that most of my photos were taken 'outside' of London. Which is kind of odd since I'm actually living in this UK. So, now I've decided that instead of keep spending my weekends outside of England, I want to stay in for a few weeks, to really get to know the city (if my schedule allows of course, I do have a couple of photo shoots to do..). How's that?

IN THE POST:

Getting to  Zaanse Schan: catch the train take the train from Amsterdam central towards Koog-Zaandijk, and arrive in about 20 minutes.
