I think I gotta catch up with you all a bit. What's new...I'm in Australia! And I couldn't tell you how happy I am to shoot in my second home, seeing my friends, and of course, walk down the food memory lane. The trip is only 9 days, so I decided just to stay in Melbourne, though the original plan is to go to Sydney for the weekend. I guess I just miss this place so much that I didn't want to leave.

地點再度拉到澳洲,今年實在是瘋狂的到處跑連自己都好驚訝。有工作也有旅遊,總之就是管不住愛冒險愛自由的靈魂。當初畢業後,其實也沒想過自己會一而再再而三因為各種原因回到這個曾經居住將近六年的城市,一直以為下次再相見可能是五年十年後(笑)這次回到澳洲,雖然有足足九天,但我們選擇只停留在墨爾本,不像以前總是一手包辦行程策劃餐廳景點,以漫遊的方式走訪熟悉的街道,同時也不停挖掘新增口袋名單。

We stayed at the Westin Hotel as usual, conveniently located on the busy Collins St. it is my favourite Melbourne, I promise I will talk about this more in an another post. So stay tuned!

A few days before hopping on the plane, I can't help to look back and think, how did I come here so often but visit so little new places? Perhaps, in that sense, there's just something too comforting about having to frequent a city you're all too familiar. So this time, I set a goal to at least explore one new thing every day. In my opinion, this is probably one of my best decisions ever. Higher Ground, is such a pleasant discovery. The kale salad with kingfish is seriously amazing, and you never want to miss the hot cake. Sadly, I was too excited to dig in that I completely forgot to take a photo! I'll leave that as secret for you all to check it out in Part 2. :)

如同以往,我們下榻在位於市中心 Collins St 的 The Westin Melbourne (也就是台灣的六福皇宮),到時候飯店設施會另起一篇文章,敬請期待。

在上飛機前幾天,我回憶起自己前幾次的墨爾本之旅,發現不管是地點或是餐廳幾乎都是以前走訪過的。或許是因為對於到這裡的生活已經太熟悉,以至於對於體驗這回事多了分閒懶。於是,這次我給自己預設一了個每天都要發現新的人事物的目標。就算是瑣碎的芝麻小事也沒關係,還能夠順便考驗自己的觀察力,也好也好。照片中的 Higher Ground 是我們在第二天就搭車前往的餐廳,因為剛搭完長途飛機沒什麼胃口,就選擇了清爽的羽衣甘藍沙拉,配上醃製過的生魚片,清爽無負擔真是個好的開始。餐廳本身有名的甜點是 hot cake 熱蛋糕,至於它的真面目我們就到 Part 2 在揭曉吧。

Howey Place is my favourite place in CBD. Not only this little lane has the best juice shop, but also the beautiful Eastern Europe inspired Australian brand –nevenka. Now, you might have remembered seeing my interview with their designer Rosemary on Polysh, but you don't know that it's basically my second home away from my hotel room home during my trips in Melbourne. Particularly because it comes with loads of creative session looking at swatches, self-spoil doughnut eating, and of course, play time with Stella. Hashtag favourite dog.

Howey Place 是在旅館附近的小商店街,裏頭除了有我最喜歡的果汁店外,還有充滿歐洲浪漫情懷的澳洲當地品牌 nevenka. 你們或許還記得我當時在 Polysh 與品牌設計師 Rosemary Masic 做過專訪,與 Rosemary 第一次見面是將近五年前,當時她的店面才剛設立不久,時光快轉,我們上一次見面是她與團隊到歐洲拍攝季節型錄的時候。以前在墨爾本,除了認真過學生生活外,也遇到好多各行各業,好有才華也對我很好的人,Rosemary 就是其中之一。以前每隔幾個星期,就會到她店裡,吃著她熱情準備的甜點,摸摸不同的布料,聽她說著關於設計衣服的所有新鮮事。

The Hopetoun Tea Room has been around for more than 120 years. It was satisfying, indulging and very Victorian. And for years, the crowd never stopped queuing. The window display is the most delicious temptation.  I am more of a cake than scones girl, but this shop made me want both. The Vanilla Slice and Pavlova are customers favourites, and they were selling faster than they could replace them.

許多人都曾經問過我說『墨爾本哪裡的甜點好吃?』欸,是的,可能我愛吃甜食這件事已經口耳相傳到身邊的朋友都知道,不管是在台北還是倫敦,常常會收到一則訊息要我推薦咖啡廳。是說,其實我也是跟大家一樣去爬文嘗試,況且美食真的是個很主觀的東西啊(苦笑)。好的,總之這次我就有求必應,來簡單介紹一下我個人最愛的甜點店好了。The Hopetoun Tea Room 已經有超過一百二十年的歷史,到現在人氣還是很炙熱,常常一位難求。光是看著櫥窗就覺得很犯規了,其實我平常是個愛蛋糕多於英式鬆糕的人,不過唯有在這裏,我兩樣都想吃!最推薦香草派和蛋白奶油蛋糕,甜而不膩,好喜歡。

We were lucky that the weather was great, and I got to capture the city with these beautiful tones as the sun came down. I love the Melbourne golden hour, as the buildings started to glow and shine, and the dark shadows came through the trees. The view stole my heart away.

One of my favourite discoveries was Serotonin, a super yummy breakfast/brunch place offering lots of vegetarian and vegan options. They were just as feastful as they look. The pancake was made with banana and coconut milk, which was not only healthy but absolutely tasty. Serotonin is in Richmond, 10 mins drive from the city central. If you're ever in Melbourne, I highly recommend stopping by for a bite. Their açai smoothie is amazing!

聽朋友說我們到的前一週都在下雨,所以後來碰上一連好幾天的晴天就覺得好幸運。澳洲的光很好,特別是到傍晚所謂的攝影黃金時段,街景都很美。光投射建築,影子再從路樹竄出,光影交錯剛好是我愛的調性,拍起來特別開心。

旅程過了一半,Serotonin 是我個人目前最喜歡的新發現。位在 Richmond 區的素食早午餐,雖然是無肉料理,但是每道菜都好吃到讓人驚喜。從日式拌麵到西班牙燉鍋,用料細心,除了美味更是照顧到了每一位客人的健康。與朋友各自點了份鹹食後,我們再共同分享一份煎餅。這份煎餅很特別,是用香蕉和椰奶製成,都是對身體很有幫助的食材,大口大口也沒有罪惡感呢!至於飲料呢,我個人推薦巴西莓 smoothie 酸酸甜甜的,好好喝。

If you ask for a detailed itinerary, I wouldn't be able to give you any. Sure, you can explore by staying in the best hotel and dine in the finest restaurant of incredible themed decoration  – each of their own. But, we had some of the greatest experience just walking around, trying new things, and asking for the locals' advice.

時間來到第六天,我口袋裡就有滿滿的說不完,只好決定分成不同部分。畢竟爆炸性的冗長旅遊日記大家應該不想看吧(笑)休息個一個月太久沒發文,速度慢了好多,其實這篇 part 1 第三天的時候就想寫了,殊不知光是編輯照片就花了一整個晚上。一直以來就比較偏好日記型的分享方式,畢竟流水帳式的行程表太死板,而且我也真心認為每個人都應該用自己的方式去探索一個城市。我心目中的墨爾本,和你們心目中的肯定不一樣。透過我薄薄的見解,讓你們一窺我的小名單,假如你們有發現更好更有趣的也歡迎大家一起分享!
