New York, New York
I'm a New York tourist and I'm proud.
Of all the places I've travelled, New York is by far, one of those I still feel nervous jetting off too. The most bizarre yet incredible destination, in my opinion. As evident on my Instagram, I am consistently impressed by the Big Apple's skyline buildings and everlasting lights. Then every so-called New York guidebook you read tries to teach you how not to be a tourist. Though, let's admit, the city of Empire is one of the few you would love to show off the touristy spirit. I mean, come on, Time Square, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, or even Georgetown cupcakes...I, for one, don't wanna miss a thing.
And so, it's my 10th day in NYC. Violently shopping, eating pizza, pretzels, and cupcakes. Though this past week has seriously been a blast, I do miss London. Given the fact, I don't have to worry about sunscreen every 5 minutes there. In that sense, since my baby sister has officially moved into her dorm in Greenwich, there's just something comforting about having to frequent a city for the next 5 years where you'd probably never live in. You can dip in & out. No need to save the city's charm for later, or stress about expanding your network. You can take what you want directly, and even try the subsequent lifestyle for a short few weeks.
After all, to let New York grow on you, you need experience. There's no secret sauce. There's no quick fix. You just need to be extremely used to getting lost in this particular city before your reach the 'travel-life' balance – or become a semi New Yorker.
We all got to start somewhere. I'm still a New York tourist, and I'm proud.
