what happened and what's going on.
I'm not sure how I let myself one year off from writing this 'life lately' series. I mean, isn't this what blogging was about a few years back -- an online diary. Speaking for myself, first and foremost, I'm down to my last term in school. Started doing freelance photography. Wrote a few articles for Polysh. Decorated the flat. And looking to publish something with my classmates (more about that in a later post). In my defense, my compiled wishlist is actually ticking off. Anyways, I'm hoping to keep this Life Lately (sort of) series going, at least every two months.
So before we jump into new years resolution, let's do a little recap of the past two months. Plus, I feel like its a good idea to stop for a second to look back and be proud of what you've done. Hope you'll find it interesting. x
In early November, I had the chance to visit DIY Space London, and I was there to take photos for my classmate's article. The session was held by Arts Sisterhood, a non-profit organisation providing art therapy for female, aiming to give women chances to express creatively. The night was truly amazing; I got to meet some of the most inspirational people.
Honestly, before moving to London, I didn't have much expectation for this city -- prior trips had only every been a layover of few days. I was under the impression that Londoners are distance and cold for reasons unknown. Then, as much as this sounds like a cliché, after spending two years (almost!) in the city, I knew I was wrong. In my opinion, the hidden gem of London are the people. Meaning even though I was sometimes meeting the same people every weekend for shoots, and another group of same people every weekday in class, it doesn't matter, there always seems to be endless topics of conversation to cover.
One of the highlights for the past few months is the fact I got to do my first studio photography. It was a quick 20 mins shoot, but I love how it turned out. I never really mentioned what I'm actually doing in London -- school-wise. Mostly because in class we often work on things that aren't going to surface for about 2 months, and when it does, your headspace is already on the next deadline that it just goes "ok, cool! On to the next." So, to answer the question precisely, it's a Magazine Publishing course I've been trying so hard to figure out in university.
All that said, since I'm more on the editorial side, it's always about image-making and content-creating. This brings me to a recent interview with the founder of Beara Beara, which I will be sharing very soon. Stay tuned!
I spend so much time writing and retouching photos in Tap193 lately that I feel like it's my second workspace. You guys might remember raving about this place a year ago, and it is still top on my list! However, as much as I love working in coffee shops, I make sure I get to spend one day at home doing nothing every week. Most of these stress-free days involve loads of tea and canelé -- my pastry crush for the moment! Do you guys have a favourite pastry?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought something during Black Friday Sale (hopefully!). I had been saving for the J.W. Anderson Pierce Bag for a while, and after considering for a while, I decided to go for my favourite black & white combination. Even though it had only been with me for a week, I already feel like it is one of my best handbag choices. It's super sturdy, the quality is amazing, and it is so easy to match.
觀望 J.W.
Reading has always been my favourite activities, however, I feel like with technology, reading an actual book has somewhat become a luxury. I always try to read one or two books every month, and it really helps me relax. It doesn't even have to be a novel, it could be a coffee book. So lastly, I want quickly share with you the few books I've been reading: The Flowers by Dr. Lisa Cooper & The Past by Tessa Hadley. The first one is for inspirations, you all know I love using flowers in my photos. And I carry the second one around because I like to read on the tube.
Okay, so here's my little recap, I'm sorry if it's too long. Till next time! x
